According to Spanish journalist Romain Molina, Real Madrid is reportedly regretting their decision to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain. Despite scoring seven goals in 11 appearances since his high-profile move last summer, the club is said to be “gutted” with his performance.
Molina, speaking on the YouTube channel Colinterview, explained that while Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez pushed for the signing due to his admiration for star players, the French striker’s current form and fitness have not lived up to expectations. Molina pointed out a noticeable “physical drop-off” in Mbappe, which is unusual for a 25-year-old, and said this has caused concern within the club.
He contrasted Mbappe’s struggles with the situation of Jude Bellingham, who had a strong pre-season. The lack of pre-season preparation for Mbappe has reportedly contributed to his difficulties adjusting to the physical demands at Real Madrid.
However, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has shared a more optimistic view, noting that Mbappe has been working hard to regain full fitness after a muscle injury. Ancelotti stated that the international break allowed Mbappe to focus on his physical condition, and he’s now feeling better and more prepared to contribute to the team. Ancelotti also confirmed that Mbappe's tactical role remains the same, alternating on the left wing with Vinicius Jr.
