Real Madrid's Pursuit of Liverpool Star Adds to Club's Concerns

Liverpool might face difficulties as the Champions League group stage draw has placed them in a challenging group, which includes Real Madrid. According to the Liverpool Echo, the final two group matches are set for the last two weeks of January, which could complicate Liverpool's season.

The timing of these fixtures is particularly concerning given the uncertainty around key players Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contracts expire in June 2025. Starting in January, these players can negotiate and sign preliminary contracts with other clubs.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, in particular, has attracted interest from Real Madrid, with reports indicating that the Spanish club is eager to secure the English defender. If Liverpool's encounter with Real Madrid is scheduled for late January, it would allow Real Madrid to open talks with Alexander-Arnold about a potential transfer. The Champions League match early in the year could provide a platform for such discussions.

Additionally, Real Madrid's visit to Anfield later this month could further facilitate negotiations between the two clubs.
